Prayers for the Classroom - Occasions and Events
Below are a collection of prayers that might be useful on certain occasions or for school events. I will occasionally update this page, so check back here every once in a while!
A prayer for beginnings
God has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
You are God from everlasting to everlasting. You know all things and tomorrow is under your control. As we begin this new [school year / term / unit etc] enable us to walk in your ways, guide us into knowledge of the truth and strengthen us to live with integrity, courage and compassion in all that we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A prayer for NAPLAN
Cast all your cares on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Lord God, thank you that you care for me. Please help me to remember what I have learnt and to concentrate well today. Please help me to be calm and focused and to try my best. Help me to remember that I am precious to you because you made me and you love me. Amen.
A prayer for Anzac Day
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: ‘Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.’ John 15:13
You rule over all things, and you delight in peace. Thank you for the men and women who have served in our Navy, Army, and Air Force. We know that their great sacrifices during times of war was so that we may live in peace and freedom. Thank you for the people who serve in the Australian defence and police forces. Please protect them and give them courage. Look after their families while they are serving away from home. Let us not forget that our peace, freedom and comfort are secure by their sacrifices. And fill us with thankfulness towards you, Our Lord and God, who sent your own Son to be a sacrifice for us, so that we and all people might be free. In His name we pray, Amen.
